The job
Making way for a garden room.
This job was carried out for Franklin Trees, working for a builder who needed a large sycamore stump removed to make way for a new garden room at the back of the property.
The stump had been left high because the tree surgeons had encountered metal throughout it while cutting the tree.

The access
No side access. Through the house.
There was no side access, and the stump was too large for the tight-access equipment to deal with efficiently, so the Bandit stump grinder had to be taken through the house.
The door frames were removed to provide enough clearance for the machine. After manoeuvring the grinder through the property, getting into the rear garden meant taking the machine over a wall, so ramps were built to get the Bandit safely into the garden.

The work
Metal in the stump.
The Bandit SG-40 was used to remove the main bulk of the stump.
When the embedded metal prevented further safe grinding, the Terminator chainsaw stump grinder attachment was used to carefully expose the metal. The metal was then cut out with an angle grinder before stump removal could continue.

The result
Cleared for the garden room.
The stump was removed to clear the area required for the planned garden room.
